Squirt on her favorite tree outside the shop

Squirt on her favorite tree outside the shop

There is a squirrel named Squirt that makes her home just outside the Adventures Unlimited Shop.  She is a shameless moocher and thief  She stole a candy bar out of the shop last week so we have to keep our front doors closed these days.  She is brazen in her efforts to get sweets to eat.

It is an absolutely beautiful today!

On days like today I remember to be EXTRA thankful that my job brings me to the forest and not the city.  As perfect days go, I think today qualifies.  The sky is a beautiful shade of blue, there is not a cloud to be seen.  The river is running clear and at a perfect depth for paddling or floating.  I have a couple of song birds and one pesky squirrel right outside the office window.  The only hard part of days like today is getting work done inside.  We would all rather be out in the sunshine.  For anybody who has the day off…come out and see us.  Take a trip on the river, enjoy all that lovely sunshine!

Hopefully the flooding is done for 2009!

This has been an interesting spring.  For the past couple of years the challenge for area creeks and rivers was having enough water in them.  For the last few weeks it has been too much water!  We have had three floods in three weeks.  Anybody who has had to clean up and fix up after a flood can tell you that they just aren’t much fun.  The novelty of canoeing into work loses its appeal after the first few times.  Hopefully we are done with the really heavy rainfall we have seen since the end of March.  There is plenty of water in Coldwater Creek, so it will be great once we get the log jams out.  We are hoping to have trips running this weekend.  Stay tuned…
